Nietsche on Niche 🤯

Am I the only one who gets confused by the British pronunciation?

Let’s call the whole thing off

I’ve always been peeved by how people pronounce the word Niche.

There’s the American version, which sounds like NITCH.

Then there’s the British version, which sounds like NIETZSCHE.

Then there are the Anglophile Americans who get all hoity-toity and say ā€œNEESCHā€ as if they were on the Stamp Act side of the Boston Tea Party.

And to them, I say ā€œDude, Friedrich Nietzsche was a philosopher. He said stuff like ā€˜to live is to suffer, to survive is to find some meaning in the suffering.’ - the only suffering I am going through right now is you trying to sound smart.ā€

Of course, I don’t actually say that out loud. I just put down this note in my ā€œideas pileā€ and figure I’ll rant about it someday in my newsletter.

Well, that day is today. As I carve out this NITCH for a newsletter, I won’t hold back on the rants.

Because I’m sick of suffering from people trying to sound smart.

Like how I often have to bite my tongue when people pronounce the (silent) t in the word often.

Or when I work from my laptop from a Library (not libarry) or coffee shop drinking Espresso (not expresso).

If I weren’t lazy, I’d add an animated GIF to emphasize my rant. Pronounced gif.

JIF is a brand of peanut butter. I don’t care that the person who invented the GIF format says otherwise. I’m not animating peanut butter.

Anyway, I hope this rant didn’t make you suffer too much. I don’t really have any business advice to share. I'm still carving out my Nietzche, I guess.

The researchers found that 55% of the sample startup firms reported conducting systematic marketing and 45% said they did not.

In both studies, the researchers discovered that early-stage B2B startup firms were the least likely of all B2B startup firms to conduct systematic marketing but the most likely to benefit from it, while early-stage B2C startups were the most likely to conduct systematic marketing but the least likely to benefit from it.

Late-stage B2B startup firms also benefited less from conducting systematic marketing than early-stage firms.
