How we automated our entire content process (and why it got better)
Never automate without a process
I used to have a million tabs open.
Every AI tool I'd hear about. Every recommendation from communities I'm in. Every "you should check this out" message.
Sound familiar?
The tab graveyard was real. And it was driving me crazy.
So I started documenting them in ClickUp. Then posting about them on LinkedIn. What began as clearing browser tabs turned into one of my most consistent content strategies.
But here's the thing - it was taking me 30 minutes per post.
Five minutes to document the tool. Three minutes to craft the copy. Another five minutes fighting with AI image generation. Then, posting across four different platforms.
Multiply that by the tools I discover each week, and suddenly I'm spending hours on something that should be simple.
That's when our team member said those magic words: "I can automate that."
Now? The entire process takes 90 seconds.
I type "/tool" in Slack, paste a URL, and walk away. The automation crawls the site, generates the post copy using my refined prompts, creates a branded image, stores everything in our systems, and even creates the ClickUp task.
But here's what surprised me most - it didn't just get faster. It got better.
More consistent messaging. Better image quality. Zero human error.
And the real kicker? Instead of spending 30 minutes writing posts, I now spend that time connecting with the founders who reply. Building relationships. Having actual conversations.
That's the shift everyone's missing about AI and automation.
It's not about replacing what you do. It's about taking what you're already doing anyway and making it so efficient that you can focus on the high-value activities.
The strategic stuff. The relationship building. The revenue-generating work.
In this week's video, Mercer and I walk through the entire process - from the manual version to the fully automated system. We even hit a live error during recording (because that's how automation actually works in the real world).
The key insight? Never automate without a process first. Get it working manually until you're sick of doing it. Then hand it over.
That's how you build systems that actually work.
